SMART Info tab

This tab contains information about SMART status of selected drive, detailed information about SMART attributes and its changes and custom settings for attributes and drives. From this screen you can control all S.M.A.R.T. notification from your drive and choose what events you want to monitor.

The list on this tab is a list of S.M.A.R.T. attributes that selected drive supports. This list contains following columns:

ID
- ID number of the S.M.A.R.T. attribute
Attribute name - the name of S.M.A.R.T. attribute. These names depends of disk manufacturer. You can find out more about attributes and its meaning here.

T.E.C. date
- the date of predicted Threshold Exceeded Condition (T.E.C.) for current attribute, i.e. it is a rough estimate date when attribute value will drop below its threshold.
Active SMART uses special algorithms to predict the date of the T.E.C. for every S.M.A.R.T. attribute. To maximize accuracy of the date prediction Active SMART shows the T.E.C. date for attribute only after two changes of it's value. It allows us as much as possible increase the date calculation accuracy. Note: This date is not an exact drive fail date, it's only estimated date and it should be used only as advisory data.

Threshold - Attribute threshold - the minimum (critical) value of the attribute value.
If attribute value exceed this threshold, then Active SMART will notify the user. In this case you should backup your data on this disk, because failure may be imminent.

Value
- current value of the S.M.A.R.T. attribute. It's the most important S.M.A.R.T. data of your hard drive.
Worst - worst attribute value
Status - current status of the attribute:
OK - attribute value did not change, and it did not not exceed its threshold.
            - attribute value decreased.

            - attribute value increased.

If the attribute value changed then amount of change will be shown near the change arrow.

Every attribute row in the list has a custom notification settings button near attribute name. You can use it to define a custom notification settings for this attribute only. For example - you can set Active SMART to notify you only if Reallocated Sector Count drops below 50. You can find out more about this feature on the Attribute properties page.

From this screen you can also change the Drive properties. This enables you to set unique notification settings for selected drive only. For example - you can set a full S.M.A.R.T. monitoring of the master IDE drive and enable only temperature monitoring for a SCSI drive. Find out more about custom drive properties on the Drive Properties page of this documentation.

You can save a text Report using Report feature of Active SMART. To save the full S.M.A.R.T. report of the drive as a text file with a raw S.M.A.R.T. data press Report button and choose a folder to save a text file. After this you can open this file with a text editor, for example - with Notepad.

To open disk SMART status Quick View window press a View button. The Quick View shows all the drive S.M.A.R.T. data in a friendly graphics form, so you can view disk status at a glance. Find out more about SMART status Quick View feature from the Quick View page.

To open SMART Raw data view press a View button and choose the corresponding option. Using the SMART Raw data view you can explore the Raw data of S.M.A.R.T. attributes.

Under the attributes list Active SMART shows a brief result of the last S.M.A.R.T. poll.
